Mike Atkinson was born in Sparta, NJ and grew up playing for the New Jersey Devils Youth program. In 2001, he was a member of the Bantam AAA National Championship team and was soon recruited to play at Salisbury prep school. While at Salisbury, Atkinson was a two year Captain and MVP of his team and played a key role in winning the Flood Marr Holiday Hockey Tournament in 2005. Mike soon thereafter committed to Quinnipiac University where he would go on to be an Assistant Captain and recipient of the Joe Tomasello award his senior year. Following university, Atkinson pursued professional hockey ambitions in the ECHL where he played for the Utah Grizzlies. Mike has always been heavily involved in developing youth hockey players, and has had extensive involvement with USA Hockey Atlantic District Selects Festival, as well as the New Jersey Devils Youth organization. Atkinson is currently a head coach of a AAA team with the New Jersey Devils Youth organization.
